Offline and sync
mdedit.ai saves edits locally first, then syncs cloud-enabled documents in the background.
Status indicator
- Local — Sync Articles is off; the document is stored in this browser only.
- Offline — editing remains available and sync resumes after reconnecting.
- Saved — the latest edit is stored locally and queued or completed for sync.
- Conflict — local and cloud content diverged; review the choices before replacing either copy.
- Sync Limit — the account already has its allowed number of cloud-synced documents. Free supports three; see Plans & limits.
Available offline
- Edit and preview a document already opened on this device.
- Render most Markdown, including tables, math, and diagrams.
- Create or move folders and queue changes for later sync.
Requires a connection
- Load a cloud document that is not cached on this device.
- Invite collaborators, publish, or create hosted links.
- Load, compare, or restore cloud version history.
- Run server-backed export and AI operations.
- Browse templates.
If Sync Articles is off, clearing browser cache, site data, or local storage can remove local-only documents. Leave sync on for cloud backup and access from other devices.
