Version history
Version history helps you understand changes and recover earlier synced content.
Open history
- Open a synced document.
- Open the files sidebar and choose Version history at the bottom.
Each entry shows when the version was saved and whether it is still inside your cloud backup window. Its word count appears once the version's content has been downloaded.
Versions are created automatically as document changes sync; there is no separate manual version-save action.
Compare versions
Choose Compare beside a history entry to see what changed between it and the entry below it. Comparing is how you inspect a version's content. Comparison and history loading require a connection because the versions come from cloud history.
Restore a version
- Choose Restore beside the version you want.
- Confirm in the dialog that appears.
Before restoring, mdedit saves your latest synced draft as a new version, so restoring adds to history rather than replacing it. Wait for the status indicator to confirm the restored document has synced.
Free and Standard have metered history allowances; Premium has an unlimited history quota. See the live meter in Settings → Subscription and Plans & limits.
